Scout Report: BTE Overdrive - New Weapon Mods


Greetings, Dan here,

With new mech options comes new weapon system options, specifically, Weapon Mods! Much as with the other equipment from this expansion, the mods are designed to incorporate new styles of play as well as incorporating capabilities from mech fiction not yet featured in Beneath Twisted Earth. A majority of these come in the form of specialty ammunition or targeting systems. Below are two examples of the mods to look forward to in this expansion:

  • GearDoc Ammunition: When a technological target is hit with GearDoc rounds, rather than taking damage, the target’s AP is repaired by 1d4+WS Bonus. These rounds will deal normal damage to biological targets. Hybrid targets will be repaired for half the amount rolled, rounded down. Mechs with Bio Frames count as hybrid targets for the purposes of this mod.
  • Tactical Scanner: Upon hitting an adversary with the equipped weapon system, this device scans the target, analyzing its capabilities, and status then relaying that information to the pilot. The GM should answer basic questions about the adversary’s capabilities such as Attacks/Equipment, and current status such as remaining Armor/Health/Ammo. Adversary special abilities or traits may be excluded from these descriptions.

The new play styles offered by these and other new equipment will open exciting new combinations for Dragoons. Next time we'll be taking a look at some of the new Disposable Equipment that will be on stock. Then on to the brand new Counter Paranormal Equipment and X Tech Mech Parts.
